About the Coalition
Founded in 2021, the California Reading Coalition is made up of educators, advocates, researchers, and policy makers committed to improved reading outcomes for all California students.

We support efforts by districts, advocates, and state agencies to bring attention to California's reading crisis and improve outcomes for every student. We produce studies like the California Reading Report Card and California Reading Curriculum Report, to create a clearer picture of the state of early literacy. We also organize the annual California Reading Summit, bringing together the state's leaders in improving reading results to share successes and struggles, and help chart the course to move our state forward.
